Nyumba ya sanaa (house of arts) was mainly established for the purpose of promoting local arts and craft manship since 1972 by Marryknoll sister jean pruitt. Its a cultural centre and art workshop in which different souvenirs have been displayed so as to show an identity of Tanzanian culture.
The house of arts is basically aspired to build good relationship among locals and their cultural activities and also supporting them to sell their work to people who visit the place. Apart from the souvenirs found in Nyumba ya sanaa, the centre also have stages for dance and music exhibitions which contribute much in the coming of tourists and act as an attraction.
